Abstract
Descartes' explanation of error in his fourth Meditation gives Spinoza the opportunity to point out the stealthy introduction of the free will consideration in the analysis of human action. The inversion suffered by this problem in the controversy between Erasmus and Luther, so as the sense and boundaries of
its denial by the alternative statement of Spinoza.
