Resumo
No primeiro estudo sistemático sobre a psicologia de Kierkegaard, Kierkegaard's Psychology (1972), escrito em dinamarquês por Kresten Nordentoft, o autor considera que a primeira tentativa de apresentar as teorias psicológicas de Kierkegaard foi feita por Rollo May em The Meaning of Anxiety (1950). Para além desta obra, em 1958, juntamente com Ernest Angel e Henri Ellenberguer, May editou Existence. Uma nova dimensão em Psiquiatria e Psicologia. O objectivo deste artigo é descrever o modo como May concebe Kierkegaard como um "psicólogo", partindo da análise do existencialismo e da sua coincidência com a psicanálise no diagnóstico da "crise do indivíduo moderno", tomando os conceitos de angústia e de existência como os principais eixos temáticos da descrição.
