Abstract
La construcción del sujeto en el proceso de la escritura es el hilo conductor de la novela En Breve cárcel. El texto narra una historia que contiene una variedad de tensiones internas de personajes, sensaciones, miedos, deseos, pero que ante todo confluye en una búsqueda de la narradora-protagonista por encontrarse a sí misma en al acto de la enunciación. La composición de tal sujeto en esta novela ha sido muy trabajada por la crítica desarrollando básicamente dos temas principales: la escritura autobiográfica femenina y la definición de una identidad homosexual. Ahora bien, otro campo de análisis en la conformación del sujeto que este texto genera es la locura, la cual aparece como evidencia del abismo en que se encuentra el sujeto y de la inminente necesidad de crearse una identidad que le permite exorcizar a la locura misma. Este ensayo muestra cómo el texto simultáneamente sufre el terror de caer en la locura e inventa estrategias que contienen al sujeto ante dicha caída. El espacio, el cuerpo y la palabra son los elementos que sirven de contención a la narración, y con ellos la narradora construye un sistema de representación textual que le ayuda a definirse y a re-situarse como sujeto.
