Abstract
Se presenta una lectura de las causas de la pérdida de la biodiversidad, con base en un modelo socioecológico que incluye: un punto de partida con la huella ecológica del país, un conjunto de causas subyacentes que se interpretan como las variables lentas que gobiernan el proceso y un conjunto de motores de cambio. Los anteriores interactúan en escenarios de cambio ambiental global y generan procesos socioecológicos en los cuales se produce la degradación, pérdida y transformación de la biodiversidad. El modelo se ilustra con situaciones documentadas en la literatura. Se argumenta que la lectura socioecológica de los cambios en la biodiversidad en el territorio puede resultar útil o necesaria para postular una política nacional de gestión de la biodiversidad efectiva.Ambiente y Desarrollo is registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
