Abstract
Este artículo desarrolla la concepción de cómo la poesía de León de Greiff, entre muchas otras características, en ocasiones contradictorias, se define por su disonancia y oscuridad. Heredero del simbolismo y del modernismo, su poesía no se distingue siempre por el rumor de cierta veta eufónica de la poesía modernista, y su mundo fragmentado se resolverá en la creación de un lenguaje que se basta a sí mismo para suplantar a la realidad, huyendo de la vulgaridad de un tiempo que le es incómodo. De Greiff buscó siempre huir del plañidero mundo del sentimentalismo pseudo-romántico, tan común en los finales del siglo XIX y el inicio del siglo XX en Colombia, y desarrolló motivos “contrapuestos”, a la manera de una fuga musical. La poesía que pretende ser música es una constante en la poesía de León de Greiff. El capricho o el humor serán el camino que lo lleva a escribir una poesía original, disonante en su penetración en un mundo de tensiones nunca resueltas, y que definirán su lenguaje y su visión de la realidad.
