Abstract
A finales del período colonial, las costas orientales de la Capitanía General de Venezuela son escenario de un intenso movimiento de ideas, papeles y personas, así como de conspiraciones y enfrentamientos (armados o no). En ese contexto, aparece un personaje, Francisco Isnardi, quien pronto será apresado por supuestas actividades conspirativas. La revisión de este caso de infidencia, especialmente de la biblioteca que le confiscan al sospechoso, permitirá presentar un conjunto de problemas sobre la difusión de los valores ilustrados en Tierra Firme durante esa época.
