Abstract
A partir de la representación de heroínas, este artículo explora la relación intertextual que existe entre las Elegías... y La Araucana y propone que cada vez que Castellanos alude al texto de Ercilla lo hace imbuido de un impulso iconoclasta que busca transformar el modelo o su completo rechazo. En este sentido, la referencia ciada por críticos para explicar por qué razón Castellanos prefirió la épica a la historiografía no garantiza que Castellanos realmente pretendía "imitar" a Ercilla, sino que más bien sirve como evidencia de una cisis en la práctica poética de la imitatio desencadenada por los debates generados en torno de la conquista y colonización del Nuevo Mundo.Cuadernos de Literatura is registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
