Abstract
Este trabajo es una propuesta sobre una tradición mística, la del corazón, entendiéndola como particularmente femenina. La tradición de la mística del corazón se nutre de variadas vertientes que tienen presencia en diversos tipos de escritos de religiosas. Las fuentes de dicha tradición también remiten a una genealogía de mujeres: Santa Catalina de Siena, Santa Teresa de Ávila y Santa Rosa de Lima. Esta tradición se potenciará con nuevas formas de devoción como el recogimiento, que forman parte de los procesos de privatización en tanto constitución de espacios para sí en la sociedad occidental. El corazón será un lugar no sólo simbólico de la unión con Dios, sino que un espacio privado en que el sujeto se refugia de los demás para vivenciar la experiencia más íntima de la mística: la unión de amor.
