Abstract
Este artículo propone revisar el estado de la narrativa contemporánea partiendo desde una perspectiva literaria y avanzando hacia su papel y uso en las ciencias sociales. Tras una distinción inicial de los términos narración, narrativa y narratología, se muestra el trayecto que va desde la novela moderna hasta la narrativa digital, pasando por la novela de corte posmoderno y la literatura testimonio. El aparte culmina planteando la distinción entre texto como mundo y texto como juego. Luego se propone una reflexión sobre géneros literarios híbridos, para avanzar en la descripción de cinco narraciones mediáticas: periodismo, publicidad, radio, televisión y video. Después se desarrolla un aparte con los temas de relatos excéntricos y crítica dialógica. La última parte se dedica a describir los usos de la narración en campos distintos de la literatura: narración e historia, narración y antropología posmoderna, “etnotexto” y “oralitura”, nación y narración y narración y terapia.
