Abstract
Como se sabe, no fue hasta las postrimerías del siglo XVIII que los españoles nacidos en el Nuevo Mundo bajo el gobierno español pasaron de la retonca a las acciones y sólo en las primeras décadas del siglo XIX consiguieron su autonomía política y su independencia definitiva respecto al poder imperial. Debido a sus emulaciones del pensamiento ilustrado, a su decisiva participación en las gestas independentistas y a su responsabilidad en la formación de los estados nacionales, los criollos de los siglos XVIII y XIX ha sido estudiados con esmero. Tradicionalmente se ha señalado que en sus proclamas, sus memoriales y su producción cultural, debido a la gesta independentista, se expresa por primera vez y adquiere cohesión la identidad del grupo social denominado criollo.Cuadernos de Literatura is registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
