Abstract
Considering the complex processes of transformation faced by contemporary metropolises, the present paper reflects on the generation of landscapes of inequality in cities, particularly in riverbanks in metropolitan areas. The case chosen for study is that of the riverbank of the metropolitan area of Rosario (AMR), which is a perfect example of ruptures and socio-territorial fragmentations common to most cities in the world. Despite showing certain global features, all spatial effects resulting from related transformations manifest themselves in particular ways in each place. It is thus necessary to acknowledge the local characteristics of metropolitan space, in order to promote increasing environmental, social and political sustainability in the area.
