Abstract

The aim of this text is to investigate into the participation of the urbanist Karl Brunner in Medellín during his visit in 1937, as a technical adviser for the Universidad Católica Bolivariana (UCB) with the purpose of designing a blueprint for the university campus; and in 1940 to give a lecture on Future Medellín, aiming to create a Regulatory Plan that would normalize the anarchic growth of the city. Based on the review of archival and documentary material of the time, it becomes evident the enormous impact that his indirect participation as an urbanist had in the academic and professional field of the time, a field in which many Latin American cities required specialized knowledge.
