Abstract
Se evaluó el empleo de tecnología y productividad de los maiceros del Estado de Tlaxcala en2002 agrupados por tipo de tenencia y Distritos de Desarrollo Rural, para indagar si el tipode propiedad per se determina la productividad agrícola. Con este fin se construyó el Índicede Apropiación de Tecnología Agrícola para estimar el empleo de tecnología creada por elInstituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias. Los resultadosmuestran que el uso de tecnología es baja y diferenciada y que hay una relación directa entresu empleo y productividad, excepto en productores del Distrito de Huamantla. Además seencontró que los maiceros con mayor superficie utilizan más tecnología y poseen mayorproductividad, pero no se halló evidencia que muestre que el tipo de propiedad por sí mismainfluya en la productividad de los maiceros, ya que las causas que explican estos resultadosson el acceso diferenciado que tienen a la tierra y tecnología, los rasgos edafo-climáticos de las regiones agrícolas del Estado, la pluriactividad y discontinuidad tecnológica de losproductores, así como el empleo habitual de tecnologías campesinas en el manejo del maíz.Cuadernos de Desarrollo Ruralis registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
