Mi planteamiento central en esta presentación es que el humanismo es parte del desarrollo teórico y científico de la profesión. Para sustentarlo, inicio mi exposición con un análisis del pensamiento de enfermería en contraposición al pensamiento médico; en seguida presento una serie de hechos significativos que han tenido influencia en el desarrollo de la enfermería, para, posteriormente, estudiar las interrelaciones entre disciplina y profesión y su aplicación en enfermería luego, analizo las implicaciones de este nuevo pensamietno de enfermería; y, finalmente, expongo algunas reflexiones a manera de conclusiones.

ABSTRACT

The main topic in this presentation is that humanism is part of the theoretical and scientific development of the nursing profession. To support this, I begin my exposition with an analysis of the thinking on nursing as opposed to medical thinking. Then I present a series of significant facts that have influenced the development of nursing, followed by a study of the different sorts of interrelations between discipline and profession, and their application in nursing. Subsequently, I analyze the impications of this new thinking on nursing to finally incluide some reflections as conclusions.
