Abstract

This article analyzes the role of the Mexi- can Carlos Pellicer in the creation of the stu- dent Association of Bogota in 1919. We argue that his presence in the city, in addition to enriching the ideals of the organization of students – who pushed their way in their as- piration to have an influence on the destiny of the country – made possible a mediated un- derstanding of the Mexican Revolution, as captured in representations of politics, edu- cation, and culture of said country, and pre- sented through conferences, press articles, and public celebrations. This understanding fueled the desire for educational and cultural trans- formation of Colombian students as recorded in the country during the 1920’s.
