Abstract
This article studies the French Revolution from the perspective of various Russian historians. First, Ayala analyzes the Revolution emphasizing the agrarian problem, the peasant movement and its socio-economic character. Second, the article studies the changes in interpretation of the French Revolution, which occurred during the 1950s and 1960s, placing more emphasis on the social composition of the revolution. Finally, the article studies the interpretations of the Revolution during the past 15-20 years, particularly in light of Perestroika.
