Abstract
This article aims to reconstruct the role played by liberalism in the sovereign state of Cundinamarca and its division between "Sapos" and "Bogotanos" for control of the federal administration. The "Sapos" were liberals from the towns of the Savannah of Bogota and of the northwest of Cundinamarca; the majority of these people were politica intermedieries, caciques (or local chiefs), or youth from the countryside with political ambitions.
