Resumen

En la literatura científica es común hallar la correlación entre el nacimiento de un niño con retraso en el desarrollo o riesgo de padecerlo con un mayor nivel de estrés en los progenitores. El objetivo de este estudio era determinar qué variables influyen más en el estrés experimentado por los padres de niños con necesidades de Atención Temprana (AT). Método. Cuatrocientos seis progenitores de 239 de niños/as con necesidades de Atención Temprana colaboraron en esta investigación transversal. Se administró el Índice de Estrés Parental (Abidin, 2012) para medir el estrés experimentado por las familias. Resultados. Se halló una correlación negativa significativa entre la edad de las madres y el estrés percibido por estas. Además, las familias percibieron más estrés con niños diagnosticados de trastorno de conducta o trastorno del espectro autista (TEA). Conclusión. La edad de las madres y el diagnóstico del menor son variables que deben ser tenidas a la hora de realizar una intervención integral sobre la unidad familiar.
