Abstract
Frente al argumento que sitúa a la practica periodística como un oficio, el autor realiza un recorrido por la historia de occidente de la cual recupera el proceso de legitimación de la figura del periodista: El periodista como intérprete ligado a la libertad de examen. la actividad periodistica surge como expresion de complejos y equivocos procesos sociales que generan la necesidad de obtener información, para orientarse como intérprete de un aconteser que cambia a medida que asimila el proceso científico técnico y se especializa e inunda las distintas actividades sociales. De ahí la necesidad de trascender el oficio y definir el periodismo como profesión.This journal is registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
