Abstract
The text is a narration-reflection on the forms how oral culture can be found implicitly in communities that are immersed in the contemporary society of media consumption. Understood as a semiotic mixture of tradition, the practice of Cuentería (public story-telling) has reached exceptional relevance in Colombia. There is evidence that during the last two decades men and women from all socioeconomic levels and with varying academic backgrounds have increasingly involved in the participation of renewed oral practices; this can be interpreted as a step in a different direction from mass media and as a real opportunity for oral culture.This journal is registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License. Thus, this work may be reproduced, distributed, and publicly shared in digital format, as long as the names of the authors and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana are acknowledged. Others are allowed to quote, adapt, transform, auto-archive, republish, and create based on this material, for any purpose (even commercial ones), provided the authorship is duly acknowledged, a link to the original work is provided, and it is specified if changes have been made.
