electoral debates on Twitter and their correspondence with citizen concerns in the presidential race in Colombia 2018
##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.details##
The article focuses on how the most relevant issues for Colombian public opinion were present in the debates that took place on Twitter during the 2018 presidential campaign. In the first level, the degree of correspondence between priority issues for citizens as expressed in the main surveys and the presence and axiological treatment of these topics on Twitter based on a method of content analysis was analyzed. At a second level, quantitative and qualitative data were combined to identify the structure of the rationality of political action that each ideology promotes. The results showed that there was no high correspondence between the topics of the demoscopic studies and those expressed on Twitter. In addition, the power relations for hegemony showed a predominance of centrist senders focused mainly on education, while the right and the left had fewer senders but managed to hegemonize two topics each.
