Abstract
Siendo la evangelización en el presente y futuro de América Latina el tema fijado para la Tercera Conferencia del Episcopado que tendrá lugar en Puebla, era lógico que en el Documento de Consulta se abordara el fenómeno de los medios de comunicación social como factor imprescindible en la tarea evangelizadora. Y no sólo era lógico, sino justo y necesario, dada la insistencia de los documentos oficiales del Magisterio sobre dicho fenómeno, ya desde el pontificado de Pío XII, pero sobre todo en el Vaticano II con su decreto "Inter Mirifica" y la instrucción pastoral "Communio et Progressio", publicada en 1971 por la Pontificia Comisión para las Comunicaciones Sociales.
