This article aims at showing the humor in the narratives about Isaac, not meaning that it is the only way to approach those texts. It rather singles out a perspective traditionally ignored and certainly found there: humor. Isaac’s features as deciphered from the analysis of the respective passages shape his humorous profile as a
less skilled, passive, incompetent patriarch: a kind of “anti-patriarch” through whom God acts and delivers his promises. This article thereby shows how God acts gracefully.
