Abstract
El Renacimiento y la modernidad son períodos de crisis en la historia de Occidente. Y todo período de crisis se caracteriza por dos factores, a saber, la crítica de un pasado y la visión de un porvenir; momento de síntesis de los conocimientos adquiridos (desde un punto de vista selectivo), la crisis puede ser vista desde la otra faceta de lo sintético: toda crisis genera lo que en vocabulario científico físico y matemático se denomina una singularidad. En otras palabras, el trabajo con lo conocido abre paso a otras posibilidades que no reconocen en su pasado más que el instante de síntesis, considerado como un todo y no como una serie sucesiva.
