Algunas consideraciones generales
Acercarse a una lectura crítica del Obsceno pajaro de la noche no es fácil; la novela es el resultado de la magia y las posibilidades del lenguaje cuando la escritura se trabaja como un "eorpus" abierto. En la obra, lo que conocemos por realidad se va dividiendo y multiplicando a través de esa forma particular de la palabra en miles de posibilidades de realidad no-disyuntas en las que Donoso parece apoyar el desarrollo temático y técnico del Obsceno pájaro de la noche. El lector se sumerge en una especie de pesadilla abierta, en la que la ambigüedad de los términos, de presentación de los personajes, del narrador y de la trama lo hacen irse adentrando cada vez más en una terrible y desorientadora complejidad de imágenes y sombras.
