Abstract
El tema que nos convoca en este I Seminario de Antropología Religiosa no puede ser más importante en el presente de nuestra convulsionada sociedad colombiana que busca sus salidas sin encontrarlas, quizás por no tener en cuenta aspectos substanciales de nuestras expresiones culturales esencialmente mestizas y de incalculable riqueza humana y social. Se trata de abordar, en el ámbito académico de la Universidad, la problemática de la religiosidad popular, de la religiosidad indígena y del difícil y a veces mal entendido proceso de evangelizaron en un país cuya idiosincrasia religiosa parece desconocida sin que realmente hayamos tocado todavía, a! menos desde el campo investigativo, las raíces de nuestras creencias ancestrales polivalentes y no ajenas al sincretismo más exuberante y tropical que puede darse ente ios pueblos de la tierra.
