Abstract
La situación socio cultural y la influencia de las corrientes de vanguardia europea que marcaron la vida del Brasil desde comienzos del siglo XX, así como los síntomas de agotamiento y cansancio de tendencias en boga y otros múltiples factores, contribuyeron al desenvolvimiento de una conciencia brasileña y prepararon el ambiente en el que surgirían distintas tendencias modernas en todas las artes, como una búsqueda de lo universal a través de la atención a lo local mediante la "exploración auténtica de su realidad. Y al mismo tiempo, el reconocimiento franco de valores universales"
