Abstract
Reúne una serie de reflexiones en torno a la epistemología social de la ciencia, considerando el desarrollo histórico-social de la misma a través de los últimos tres siglos, como base para la ubicación de la "Ciencia de la Información" dentro de este problema. El presente artículo se desarrolla a través de conceptos de análisis como: Institucionalización de la ciencia, revolución científica, categorización y experimentación y las relaciones entre ciencia y tecnología, para brindar una posibilidad a la ciencia de la información de situarse dentro de la tradición científico-tecnológica en su transcurso histórico.
