Abstract
Este artículo presenta una síntesis de los aspectos más importantes, que se deben tener en cuenta, al caracterizar un objeto elaborado a mano como cultura material, artesanía y/o arte popular; ubicando, en el proceso histórico y en el contexto socio-económico y cultural, tanto al objeto como al hombre que lo manufactura.
La investigación de campo se llevó a cabo en Boyacá con el auspicio del Instituto para el Desarrollo de la expresión Colombiana y con financiación de Fonade.
