Abstract
El presente trabajo pretende en primer lugar hacer una síntesis de los diversos contenidos del término investigación, insistiendo en que es un concepto análogo y que se identifica plenamente a nivel universitario con la docencia. Esta concepción choca con la estructura universitaria colombiana, que está diseñada para transmitir conocimientos y no para crearlos o perfeccionarlos. La escasez de recursos humanos, financieros y físicos impiden que se realice en nuestro medio ese ideal de convertir la docencia en investigación. Para corroborar esta afirmación se presentan los datos de Coíciencias sobre la investigación en la Universidad colombiana de 1972 a 1977.
