Salud y enfermedad en Tierradentro

Abstract

El trabajo de campo fue realizado entre los Paeces de Tierradentro, Municipio de Belalcázar, Departamento del Cauca, Colombia; durante el pri­mer semestre de 1976.

La investigación se enfocó en la enfermedad y sus causas culturales, lo que puso de presente que la enfermedad no sólo es causada por brujería y maleficio, sino que es producto de una situación económico—social de de­pendencia del "blanco", que ha llevado "al páez a consumir menos del míni­mo proteico necesario para la subsistencia, y, por consiguiente, se ha roto el estado de equilibrio fisiológico del individuo y el equilibrio biótico de su ecosistema. La enfermedad y el hambre en Tierradentro son el resultado de 400 años de conquista y colonización.
