Abstract

Desde una perspectiva de la antropología económica, este artículo examina las diferentes modalidades del cultivo de palma africana en el área de Tumaco. A partir de una breve descripción de la historia y características de la palma africana en esta parte del Pacífico sur colombiano, el artículo se detiene en una etnografía de las diferentes prácticas y relaciones asociadas no sólo al cultivo industrial propias de las grandes empresas, sino también de los pequeños productores afrocolombianos. Esta etnografía evidencia las diferentes racionalidades económicas y lógicas culturales encarnadas por estas dos modalidades del cultivo de la palma africana en el área de Tumaco.
