Abstract
El proyecto de investigación De fábrica a barrio: urbanidad y urbanismo en la Fábrica de Loza Bogotana, fue desarrollado conjuntamente por las facultades de Ciencias Sociales y Arquitectura -Maestría en Restauración de Monumentos Arquitectónicos-, durante el año 2002, con el auspicio de la Vicerrectoría académica de la Pontiticia Universdidad Javeriana.
Este proyecto de carácter interdisciplinar, incluyó componentes sociales, arquitectónicos e históricos. La investigadora, con base en métodos cualitativos de investigación, realizó una aproximación al barrio, a sus habitantes a su forma de ver el mundo y a la situación en la cual se encontraban en ese momento.
En el antiguo emplazamiento de la Fábrica de Loza Bogotana (Carrera 1 a 4 entre calles 3 y 5), se ha consolidado en la actualidad un barrio cuyos habitantes están catalogados en los estratos uno y dos. Las características del barrio son complejas y soportan el estigma de ser uno de los sectores más peligrosos de la capital.
El propósito de este trabajo es mostrar las potencialidades del barrio ya que debajo de los aspectos negativos se esconden valores culturales y humanos subestimados hasta el presente. por lo tanto, se hará una semblanza del transcurrir del barrio en el siglo XX y se analizará sus relaciones sociales en términos de solidaridad como estrategia de vida.
