Abstract
“Al occidente van encaminadas las naves inventoras de regiones”, escribía Juan de Castellanos (En Gómez, 1984; 27) para referirse a las expediciones que emprendían los navíos españoles a América; un continente desconocido y colmado de culturas, cada una con características propias. La desbandada de gente venida de la conflictiva Europa de finales de siglo XV, que buscaba escapar del hambre y la peste, o simplemente realizar un sueño, hizo que poco a poco “Las Indias”, pasaran de ser tierras manejadas por las manos de sus propios hijos, a ser propiedad de todos y a la vez de nadie.

Thus, this work may be reproduced, distributed, and publicly shared in digital format, as long as the names of the authors and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana are acknowledged.
