Abstract
Jesús Martín Barbero reflexiona sobre las formas por medio de las cuales la cultura de entresiglos -la bogotana en particular- enfrenta el miedo a la violencia generado por los nuevos procesos comunicativos de los medios de masas. ¿Cómo esta enfrentando la gente esos miedos, la angustia que acarrea la erosión de la sociedad que da forma a la ciudad? Entre las diversas reacciones, Martín Barbero jerarquiza el descubrimiento de las dimensiones culturales de la política agenciada por los nuevos movimientos urbanos, en aras de la construcción de un nuevo ejercicio de ciudadanía, como bien lo materializan las políticas de cultura ciudadana emprendidas por la Alcaldía de Bogotá y el Instituto Distrital de Cultura y Turismo.
