Abstract

En este trabajo se estudia la pulsión antitradicional de la novela Islanada del escritor nadaista Elmo Valencia, al tiempo que se relaciona esa critica de la tradición con el movimiento beat que afloró en los Estados Unidos en los años 1950s. En particular, se sitúa el estudio en el marco del escepticismo juvenil respecto a las supuestas bondades del materialismo occidental, que hacía crisis en un momento cuando ese materialismo se presentaba en la sociedad colombiana como una opción de modernidad deseable.
