Las cartas de José A. Silva

Abstract

La correspondencia de Silva que los biógrafos y críticos han podido recopilar y editar, reúne escritos de diversa índole que representan facetas amplias de su vida, de su carácter y visión de mundo. Son documentos de especial valor para el estudioso porque es el propio poeta el que nos descubre sus anhelos, creencias y valores sin la intermediación de biógrafos malévolos, pretendidos amigos o críticos repetidores de lugares comunes. Las cartas, junto con los diversos textos narrativos y poéticos, son una prueba para la demolición de las innumerables injurias y calumnias de la crítica, documentos de primera mano que traslucen las aspiraciones y luchas de un hombre del siglo XIX que escogió el arte como sentido de vida.
