Abstract
Reflexiones sobre el tema de la vigencia de las prácticas mágicas en todos los niveles sociales. Hipótesis afincadas en una realidad colombiana múltiple, en la cual entre las comunidades populares las prácticas mágicas dan indicio de las tensiones que se agitan al interior de las estructuras, los mecanismos que las guían y su expresión. La magia es suplencia de estructuras como la religión, la economía y la justicia: suple también las deficiencias estatales y la disfuncionalidad de la salud frente a la necesidad de extensos grupos de la población colombiana, la naturaleza de la educación, los precarios niveles técnicos de dominio ambiental y de expectativas de vida. Florece la magia ante las deficiencias de la medicina facultativa, asume la defensa del ego y del grupo de menor valía y es arma poderosa en manos del débil.
