Abstract
La presente ponencia no tiene mayores pretensiones que las de plantear en forma esquemática y sintética algunos problemas que se me han presentado, por una parte, al tratar de exponer y explicar algún período dado de la historia de la literatura latinoamericana como parte de un curso en la universidad y, por otra, al utilizar los trabajos existentes sobre dicha historia como parte del material didáctico. Si bien lo que voy a exponer aquí forma parte de un trabajo más amplio -el proyecto de investigación que estoy iniciando sobre la historia de la novelística latinoamericana-, aquí me limitaré sencillamente: 1) a exponer el problema, 2) analizar cuáles son las posibles causas de dicha problemática y 3) proponer algunas pautas teórico-metodológicas mínimas para intentar resolverla
