Abstract

¿Cómo se desarrollan y transforman las culturas africanas en el territorio colonial de la Nueva Granada? Esta es la pregunta que suscita unas primeras reflexiones que le dan cuerpo al artículo, en el escenario de una investigación sobre las culturas negras y mulatas que ya cumplió con su primera etapa. Se observa un doble proceso en tal constitución: la "africanización" del cristianismo de lo africano, entreverado con elementos culturales indígenas y con procesos complejos de evangelización. El demonio, cantos, ritos, danzas y ciertos instrumentos musicales configuran variables sobre las que aquellas culturas afrocoloniales empezaron a adquirir forma y presencia cultural.
