Abstract
El artículo es un análisis del concepto DEMOCRACIA a través de su tematización en La República de Platón y La Política de Aristóteles.
A manera de nota histórica, se hace una síntesis del contexto socio-político desde la época helenística hasta el Renacimiento para mostrar por qué no hubo reflexión sobre la Democracia en este largo período de Occidente.
Finalmente se hace referencia a la teoría del poder popular en el P. Francisco Suárez, para detectar en sus orígenes los fundamentos de las teorías modernas sobre democracia. Lo publicado en este número es solamente la primera parte de un estudio más amplio que pretenden abarcar el tema DEMOCRACIA y sus realizaciones históricas, desde la antigüedad, pasando por la revolución francesa, la democracia norteamericana, y los modelos de los países bolivarianos presentados por Nariño. Santander y Bolívar.
