Abstract
La producción teatral de los latinos en Estados Unidos ha conformado un corpus importante e innovador que requiere de más estudio crítico. Una de las voces más prolíficas e interesantes de las propuestas teatrales latinas es la de Migdalia Cruz, autora de más de cuarenta obras teatrales y varias traducciones y adaptaciones. Este ensayo busca recorrer la estética teatral de Cruz, descubriendo elementos característicos de la estética de su obra como lo es el monólogo y la incorporación de elementos religiosos. En la obra de Cruz, el uso del monólogo es un elemento clave que se utiliza para desarrollar a los personajes en diferentes niveles. La autora incorpora esto a la estética religiosa para desarrollar un concepto muy particular del ritual en su teatro.
