Abstract
Mientras la crítica insiste en la actual tendencia a construir estéticas de lo frívolo y de lo etnográfico en las literaturas hispanoamericanas contemporáneas, puede observarse que ciertos proyectos contradicen tales aserciones. Partiendo de la obra reciente de dos escritores argentinos, Alan Pauls y Martín Kohan, el artículo analiza la presencia y la función de objetos materiales en las últimas narraciones de ambos a fin de desmentir la vigencia tanto de los parámetros del realismo mimético como de los del gusto por lo efímero. El análisis postula un doble significado de las cosas concretas y de las materializaciones en estas poéticas. Por un lado, actúan como reveladores del sujeto y de la experiencia individual captada en situaciones de cambio y de incertidumbre. Por otro, tienen un sentido indicial en cuanto al tiempo de la comunidad y a los estereotipos de la cultura.
