Abstract
La vanguardia que se identifica con la década de 1920, de experimentos artísticos, rupturas con paradigmas heredados y construcciones precarias, conscientes de su caducidad, no es un fenómeno histórico puntual en América Latina, según unos notables comentaristas. El periodo que empieza y termina más o menos en los años veinte, entre una Guerra Mundial mayormente europea y otra guerra europea aún más mortífera, es especialmente efervescente. Pero la agitación vanguardista da la pauta para caracterizar la cultura latinoamericana en general, a lo largo de su historia, según Luis Camnitzer, por ejemplo.
