Abstract
In the first part of this article, in dialogue with Theodor Adorno’s notion of nominalism and Mikhail Bakhtin’s novelization, a possible communicating vessel is identified between prose, novel and contemporary art, based on a complex dialectic between art and anti-art. In the second part, based on a discussion about the documental orientation of contemporary prose,
and on an analysis of Sergio Chejfec’s Baroni: un viaje, a new mode of contemporary prose is identified, which, instead of creating novelistic fictions from documentary material, seeks to turn such material into art by means of subtle procedures of exhibition, virtualization and framing.
