Abstract
El análisis económico es de vital importancia paracomprender los problemas ambientales y orientar latoma de decisiones de política en este terreno. Elpresente artículo recoge una síntesis de las reflexionescentrales formuladas por el autor durante los últimoscinco OOos, con especial énfasis en los siguientestemas: el concepto de las extemalidades ambientalescomo punto de referencia obligado del análisis económicode este tipo de problemas; el papel de losinstrumentos económicos como parte integrante ypotencializadora de una política ambiental compleja;y los principios de equidad y trasectorialidad dentrode esta política. Se señalan además algunas de las másevidentes limitaciones de la economía para orientar latoma de decisiones adecuadas desde una perspectivaambiental mente deseableCuadernos de Desarrollo Ruralis registered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License.
