Abstract
La posibilidad de configurar aseguradoras en base mutualistas y cooperativas, como una forma de organizar la colaboración de una pluralidad de personas para realizar en común actividades económicas por medio de una empresa, constituye una opción factible a implementar en Cuba, contando con una incipiente base legal que lo posibilita, en aras de estimulen formas de gestión no estatal en el área económica, dotadas de una mayor autonomía, que tributen a elevar la eficiencia económica del país.
Considerando el actual contexto de desarrollo de las sociedades mutualistas en el mundo, en sus variantes más revolucionarias, de economía solidaria, comunitaria, y de propiedad social, consideramos que es el momento oportuno para repensar el rol de las cooperativas y mutuas en el proyecto socialista cubano.
