Abstract

This article aims to provide the reader with preliminary comments on certain highlights of the new or last English Insurance Law, the Insurance Act 2015, in effect since August 2016, especially the modifications that it introduces to the guarantees regime, or warranties. The iconic English Maritime Law of 1906 has consequently been reformed and these developments can not go unnoticed. This is because the English insurance laws, applicable in their measure to maritime insurance, are always a reference not only of comparative law, but to influence systems as apparently distant as those of Argentina and Uruguay, given the loyalty of the world markets of maritime insurance to the English legislation on the subject.
