Abstract

This manuscript covers the most important features of the so-called life assurance as it is one of the most resounding ones and has many salient and important aspects academia must study and tackle. Because of space constraints, this study cannot examine all its topics and that is why this article is entitled “Life Assurance. Key Aspects.”

This dissertation will explain the most pertinent issues noting that it has existed since long ago and has become a famous one given its undisputable function in the context of the society in general and its recognition at the international and local level.

The manuscript will examine its importance, its background (first and second stages), its legal framework, the descriptions, its nature, the contracting parties and the legal regime corresponding to the beneficiary in both Colombian law and in comparative law.
