Resumen

El propósito de este artículo es explicar, en primer lugar, los recursos de poder que han dado origen a China e India como potencias globales en el mundo contemporáneo. Ambos Estados tienen convergencias y posturas similares en materia de política, tanto exterior como doméstica. Sin embargo, la rivalidad y la competencia entre China e India se evidencian en tres ámbitos: 1) la escalada de la disputa fronteriza entre China e India; 2) la desconfianza de la política china hacia Asia del Sur por parte de la India. En el centro de dicha desconfianza está el afianzamiento de la alianza estratégica entre China y Pakistán, a la cual también está asociada la rivalidad entre China y la India por el control del Océano Índico; 3) la iniciativa de la nueva ruta de seda china o BRI (Belt and Road Initiative), por sus siglas en inglés, se constituye en un motivo de zozobra creciente entre China e India. Estos factores generan profundas tensiones para estas dos grandes potencias en el orden orden y regional.
